ELEMENTARY SCHOOL COUNSELOR: Eastside has a school counselor available for the students every day. The counselor works between both elementary buildings, half days. The school counselor can provide:
crisis counseling
educational support
referrals to community services as well as short term skills-based group counseling
classroom interventions and observations
Student Assistance Team evaluation and case management
Special Education assistance and information
parent and teacher consultation
These services are not intended to take the place of traditional therapy/counseling for intense or more severe issues. A school counselor cannot provide weekly, one-on-one therapeutic sessions, but will be able to refer parents to qualified providers outside of the school system if they feel that their child needs more help than short-term counseling can provide.
School counseling services are intended to support a child’s learning and promote their ability to participate in the classroom environment.
Your elementary school counselor is Steffany Predosa. She holds a master’s degree in Counseling, and is a licensed K-12 School Counselor in the state of Michigan as well as a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor. Mrs. Predosa is available at Eastside during most weekdays from 7:40 am- 10:40 am, or at any time during the day by email at spredosa@constps.org.
